Accompanist / Vocal Assistant

Accompanist / Vocal Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Assistant

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Vocal Assistant is responsible for providing classroom maintenance, support, and vocal instruction. Successful candidates should have vocal knowledge and classroom management experience. Strong background in piano accompanying is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Serve as a source of support for vocal director and other All Star Kids Club directors.

  • Maintain a positive, safe, and smooth running studio and classroom.

  • Manage all aspects of All Star Kids Club classroom decorum, including enforcing rules and providing student support.

  • Perform duties as assigned by Vocal Director, Executive Artistic Director, and Management Team.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrate classroom management, planning, time management, and organizational skills.

  • General knowledge of voice instruction, music, and vocal arrangements.

  • General knowledge of piano and other instruments.

​

OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • All work is performed with a direct reflection of the Mission, Vision and Values of All Star Theatre.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Artistic Director and Production Directors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 50 lbs, either alone or with assistance.

  • Comfortable working on ladders, mechanical lifts or other high places as required.

  • Comfortable with mechanics and automation.

​

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with classroom management.

  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in music and/or voice training.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • CPR or other emergency medical training preferred.

​

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, manage personnel and projects, and multitask.

  • Demonstrated  oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to play the piano.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point as well as Google Apps.
